How it went

Blanton & Sons is a family-owned HVAC and plumbing company in Charleston, SC. The goal was not just a good-looking website, it was to own local search for every service they offer across the Charleston tri-county area, and to turn that traffic into booked jobs. Today the site ranks #1 for its core Charleston terms.

I built it on WordPress using a modern block-based (Full Site Editing) theme, deliberately avoiding heavy page builders like Elementor or Divi. That keeps the code lean and fast: the site loads over HTTP/3 with a sub-second DOMContentLoaded, which is exactly the page-experience signal Google rewards, and it stays fully editable by the owner.

The SEO foundation is a siloed service-and-location architecture. Every service gets its own page, then a city-specific page for each one, "AC Repair Charleston," "Heat Pump Installation Charleston," "Water Heater Charleston," and so on, plus dedicated service-area pages for 19+ tri-county municipalities. Dozens of pages, each targeting one "service + city" query, tied together with deep internal linking (the homepage alone links to over 70 internal pages) to funnel authority where it converts.

On top of that I implemented multi-type structured data, LocalBusiness + HVACBusiness + Plumber schema with full address, geo coordinates and an aggregate rating (4.8 stars across 1,500+ reviews), which is what earns the review stars and rich treatment in local results.

The whole site is wired for lead capture: click-to-call in the sticky header and throughout, tracked with CallRail so every phone lead is attributed to its source; ServiceTitan online booking for self-service customers; promotional offers as hooks; a membership plan for recurring revenue; and heavy social proof (reviews, guarantees, manufacturer badges).

The result is a fast, schema-rich, deeply-linked WordPress site that ranks #1 locally and converts that traffic into tracked calls and booked jobs. The same system works for any home-services trade.
